Luther Burbank High School has partnered with multiple
organizations to offer leadership classes on campus that focus on
academic and social-emotional needs. The following videos help
provide an overview; if you are interested, please speak to your
counselor about signing up.
This semester, our mission for the Young Men’s Leadership Course
(YMLC) is to understand our students and our community on a
deeper level. With this knowledge, we teach our young men how to
give back to their own communities to develop a sense of
identity.
To empower young men to become lifelong learners and
socially conscious leaders – to be resilient, responsible
and respectful men – Luther Burbank offers the Men’s Leadership
Academy. The Academy is a class offered during the school
day (and for elective credit) to young men of color. Through a
multi-cultural curriculum, the class aims to provide students
with the tools to succeed, including teamwork, leadership, life
skills, problem-solving and resiliency skills.
Improve Your Tomorrow is an incredible organization that
provides personalized mentoring and college-guidance
services to young men at LBHS. Their mission is to “Increase the
number of young men of color who attend and graduate
from college or university.” For more information, visit their
website at improveyourtomorrow.org;
